There are two large picnic areas on Georges Island in Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area. One is located on the northwest end of the island and one on the southwest end near Battery Lowell. All tables and grills are taken on a first come, first served basis unless they are reserved for an event. Yes, you can host a picnic event for a large group here on Georges Island. See the Host Your Event web page on the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park website for more information.
NORTHWEST PICNIC AREA
Roughly a dozen picnic tables—no grills—are available at the Northwest Picnic Area on Georges Island. This is a large area with plenty of shaded trees, so there is room for picnicking on a blanket as well.
SOUTHWEST PICNIC AREA
The Southwest Picnic Area on Georges Island is located on a large, open field near Battery Lowell. Three covered pavilions house most of the tables. There are no grills.
