The Mud Island Creek Picnic Area on the Natchez Trace Parkway isn’t much of a picnic area with just three tables and no grills, and none of them have a view of Mud Island Creek. Two of the tables are located on the north side of the property near the parking lot, and one is located at the bottom of a steep hill. There is a path directly to this table, but for a more gradual descent, walk down to the field on the right side of the parking lot and then follow the tree line around the corner to the left.

If you are serious about picnicking, I suggest stopping at the Coles Creek Picnic Area just a few miles south. If you just need a place to sit while you eat a sandwich or have a snack, Mud Island Creek will suffice.
