The North Fork Coles Creek Picnic Area on the Natchez Trace Parkway has only three tables (one busted) and no grills. You can see Coles Creek through the trees, but it is at the bottom of a steep gully, so you can’t get to it without great effort. Years ago when the Parkway first opened, there probably weren’t any trees in the way, and perhaps the picnic tables—if there were any picnic tables back then—sat perched at the top of the gully and had a nice view of the creek below. Unfortunately, this is not the scene today.
Note: Between this stop and the next stop to the north, the Sunken Trace—a 20-mile stretch of road—are two unnamed pullouts with no facilities other than trash cans.
