Raccoon Island is located less than 700 feet from the coast of Houghs Neck. If you live in one of the nearby houses, you could easily swim to it, if not walk out to it during low tide. There is some construction debris at the southwest corner, but other than that there is nothing on the island but a clump of trees and rocks.

Raccoon Island is not serviced by the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area public ferry.
