Middle Brewster Island was home to a few mansions during the late 1800s, and some ruins can still be found. However, it is the least accessible island within Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area because it is surrounded by rocky ledges and underwater rocks that cannot be seen at high tide. Motorized boats are advised to anchor offshore. A hand-paddled watercraft landed on the southwest side of the island is the best bet for coming ashore. The island is a popular spot for birds, so the National Park Service discourages visits during the nesting season from April through August.
Middle Brewster Island is not serviced by the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area public ferry.
