Twin Canals Trail in the Barataria Preserve, Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve

There are ten hiking trails at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, and all of them are located in the Barataria Preserve. Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, only the Twin Canals Trail is open. The rest are closed due to damage sustained from Hurricane Ida in 2021 and are currently being torn down and reconstructed. The National Park Service expects the work to be completed in 2028, but as with any government-funded project, I wouldn’t be surprised if it took longer. You can check out the park’s official Alerts and Conditions web page for the most recent updates.
