Horseback riding is allowed on the Black Horse Trail and the White Horse Trail in Rock Creek Park. Lengthy segments of these overlap with the Western Ridge Trail and the northern segment of the Valley Trail. Overall, there are approximately 13 miles of bridle trails. Horses are not allowed on any of the trails in the sub units of the park such as Glover-Archibold Park, Dumbarton Oaks Park, Montrose Park, etc.
For those without a horse, the Rock Creek Park Horse Center offers guided trail rides for those 12 and older, pony rides for those 3 and older, riding lessons, and riding camps in the spring and summer for those 9 to 14 years old. For those with their own horse, boarding services are available. There is also a tack store.
The Horse Center is located at 5100 Glover Road NW, which is very close to the Rock Creek Nature Center. For schedules, prices, and other information, visit the Rock Creek Park Horse Center web site.
