I visited the eastward facing Yadkin Valley Overlook in the morning, which is not the time to visit if you want to take photos—try stopping in the late afternoon or early evening. There is an excellent view here, not quite 180°, but close. This is very similar to the Thunder Hill Overlook one stop to the south, and the view there is a little better. There’s really no need to stop at both overlooks.
