Hominy Valley View on the Blue Ridge Parkway grants visitors a sweeping vista of mountains and a bit of the valley below. However, it is a relatively flat view, void of the depth that would make it a standout. By this I mean that all of the mountains, though many ranges deep, run parallel to the overlook. A more interesting view is when you can look down the gullet of a valley created by mountains that run perpendicular to the viewing area. I prefer the view at Big Ridge Overlook just a half mile to the north. Both are part of a cluster of seven pullouts within four miles of each other.
