The Cherry Cove View overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway offers and expansive, 180° vista, but I just don’t find it that interesting. As with many of the views in this area, Looking Glass Rock is part of the scene. This mountain is easily identified by its sheer cliff walls, which when wet, shine like a mirror when the sun hits them.

There are no picnic tables at this stop, but you can access the Mountains to Sea Trail from here. Its two trailheads are located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, not in the parking lot. If you are looking at the Parkway, one trailhead is across the street and slightly to the left, while the other is about a quarter mile up the Parkway to the right. These will set you hiking on the trail in opposite directions.

The Mountains to Sea Trail stretches for 1,150 miles from Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the North Carolina Outer Banks. It is not part of the National Park system, so I did not hike it, but you can find more information on the Friends of the Mountains to Sea Trail website.
