The view at Log Hollow Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a narrow one (what you see it the photo is about it), but one that is quite interesting. If it weren’t for the mountains being covered in trees, this could pass for a western scene from the Red Rock area of Arizona. Looking Glass Rock, which has been the center of attention at many overlooks just north of here, looks like a furry mesa. Back in the late 1800s and early 1900s it wouldn’t have been hard to imagine a desert-like scene, for most of these mountains had been stripped of trees by heavy logging.
