There are two views at the Pounding Mill Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. At the south end of the parking lot is a view very similar to that of the Cradle of Forestry Overlook a little farther north. At both stops you can see Looking Glass Rock, the mountain with the bald, sheer-face cliffs. In fact, the views of Looking Glass Rock are from the same angle at both overlooks.

The second view is from the north side of the parking lot. This is one of the rare views from an overlook where you can see the Blue Ridge Parkway winding through the distant mountains. From here you are looking across the Parkway and also in a different direction, so if the sun is shining in your face when you are viewing Looking Glass Rock, views in this direction will be lit properly for a quality photo (and of course, vice versa).
