Located on the Tennessee River, Colbert Ferry Park is one of the more involving stops along the Natchez Trace Parkway, with opportunities for fishing, boating, picnicking, hiking, and for those biking along the Parkway, camping. This is the location of George Colbert’s stand (aka inn) and ferry that he operated in the early 1800s. His brother Levi ran a stand a little farther south at Buzzard Roost Spring. Both were Chickasaw Chiefs of mixed heritage, with a Scottish father and a Chickasaw mother.

A former Ranger Station is the first building you come to once turning off of the Natchez Trace Parkway. This is closed permanently, but restrooms located on the back side of the building are open. They are modern, clean, and even have soap and hand dryers.
