LOCATION
Picnic Area #29 is located on Piney Branch Parkway near the 16th Street Overpass. It is the farthest picnic area from central Rock Creek Park. See the Picnic Areas web page for an interactive location map.

PARKING
Parking is at a roadside pullout that can hold a dozen vehicles.

AMENITIES
Picnic Area #29 is a long, narrow strip of land along Piney Branch Parkway. It has a small covered pavilion with two tables and a modern grill. This is the only first come, first served picnic area at Rock Creek Park with a pavilion and a grill that works, which is probably why it is such a popular spot.

NOTE: Table and grill count may vary due to theft, breakage, or the addition of new tables and grills. If you plan on hosting a group picnic, be sure to stop by and check out the facility in advance to make sure it will fit your needs. You are allowed to bring your own grill. Used charcoal must be disposed of in the trash cans, not dumped onto the ground.
