LOCATION
Picnic Area #23 at Rock Creek Park is located in the woods next to the Rock Creek Tennis Center. The entrance is at 16th and Morrow Drive NW. See the Picnic Areas web page for an interactive location map.

PARKING
Picnic Area #23 shares the parking lot with the Rock Creek Tennis Center. To find it, if coming from Morrow Drive, pass by the tennis center and the pavilion and tables at Picnic Area #24. Once you get to the end of the tennis complex, look for the tables in the woods to your left. If you keep driving, you’ll end up in the Carter Baron Amphitheatre parking lot. You can access the picnic area from the Carter Baron lot as well.

AMENITIES

There are close to a dozen picnic tables at Picnic Area #23. There are no grills, but there is what appears to be a stone oven. If you want to use it, you’ll need your own grill grate and a shovel to clear the cooking area of trash and old ashes. The better idea is just to bring your own grill.

NOTE: Table and grill count may vary due to theft, breakage, or the addition of new tables and grills. If you plan on hosting a group picnic, be sure to stop by and check out the facility in advance to make sure it will fit your needs. You are allowed to bring your own grill. Used charcoal must be disposed of in the trash cans, not dumped onto the ground.
