I arrived at the southeastern-facing Upper Goose Creek Valley View overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway around 5 PM in mid-October and the sun was shining directly in my face. As as result, I could only get a decent photo of the vista at the left side of the overlook, the portion facing more south than west. You can see the ridge of mountains running perpendicular to the overlook, but what is missing is Goose Creek Valley. This view is very similar to what you get at the Porter Mountain View overlook less than a mile to the south, and I was able to get a better photo from there. I included it at the bottom of this page.
