The Boone Fork Parking Area on the Blue Ridge Parkway allows access to the Tanawha Trail / Mountains to Sea Trail and the Upper Boone Fork Trail. There are no scenic views at this stop.

The trail in the parking lot is the Upper Boone Fork Trail. It starts off heading southwest, then curves east, crosses the Blue Ridge Parkway, and continues northeast, ending at the Calloway Peak View overlook one stop to the north. Less than a quarter mile from the start it intersects with a short connector to the Tanawha Trail.

The Tanawha Trail connects the Beacon Heights Parking Area to Julian Price Park farther north, a distance of 13.5 miles. The Tanawha Trail is also part of the Mountains to Sea Trail, a collection of shorter trails that when strung together makes a 1,150-mile path across the state of North Carolina, connecting Great Smokey Mountains National Park with the Outer Banks on the Atlantic Ocean.
