GENERAL INFORMATION
The Kosciusko Welcome Center doubles as a Natchez Trace Parkway welcome center and a welcome center for the town of Kosciusko, Mississippi, the only town in the United States named after General Thaddeus Kosciuszko, a Polish engineer who helped the Patriot cause during the American Revolution by designing forts and earthworks. He even has his own National Park, the Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial in Philadelphia.
OPERATING HOURS
The Kosciusko Welcome Center is open from 9 AM to 5 PM each day, except on holidays.
AMENITIES
- Information desk where you can pick up a Natchez Trace Parkway map and get information on what there is to do in Kosciusko.
- Exhibits
- Picnic area outside
- Bicyclist campground outside
- Restrooms
EXHIBITS
A small exhibit area tells about Kosciuszko’s life. In addition, there is a wall panel detailing stops along the Natchez Trace Parkway and exhibits on the history of the Natchez Trace.
BICYCLIST CAMPGROUND AND PICNIC AREA
Those making overnight bicycling trips on the Natchez Trace Parkway can camp in the field next to the Kosciusko Welcome Center parking lot. There are six campsites, each with a picnic table and grill. Two sites have tent pads, but other than that, there are no amenities, not even outdoor restrooms. Campers can use the restrooms when the Kosciusko Welcome Center is open. The field is large, so it is doubtful that anyone is going to complain if you pitch your tent somewhere on the field if all the official campsites are taken.
Those looking for a place to picnic can also use the tables and grills if they are not in use by campers.
