Natchez Trace Parkway | TURPIN CREEK PICNIC AREA (MP 12.1)

Turpin Creek Picnic Area on the Natchez Trace Parkway

The Turpin Creek Picnic Area on the Natchez Trace Parkway has six picnic tables, including one handicap-accessible table that sits on a cement pad. There are two grills. Five of the tables and all of the grills are right next to the parking lot. A lone table is located near the edge of the forest at the end of a mowed, grass path, but there is no reason to walk to it unless you want shade; there is no shade at the main picnic area. A large field is to the left of the tables, and a sandy creek bed runs along the back of the property, giving kids plenty of places to play. There is parking for eight cars, though you could probably fit a dozen cars in the lot if you had to.
