Myrick Creek stop on the Natchez Trace Parkway

The Myrick Creek stop on the Natchez Trace Parkway features a short hiking trail, a lone picnic table, and a covered shelter with information panels about beavers.

The Myrick Creek Trail is a flat and easy .2-mile loop that takes no more than five minutes to walk. Since beavers are the topic of discussion at the information shelter, I was hoping to see some in Myrick Creek, but I had no such luck. Being a short trail, it is barely an excuse for exercise, and without even typical nature-related information signs along the path, I don’t see much point in walking it.

When I visited in October 2021, the Myrick Creek Trail was closed, but signs were posted only on one side. Not seeing this, I began the hike, but had to turn around due to a bridge over the creek no longer existing. Trees are down everywhere, and the place is mosquito infested, so be warned.
