See the Paddling web page for an interactive location map.
Halfway Creek runs 7.3 miles from the Gulf Coast Visitor Center in Everglades National Park to the Seagrape Drive Boat Launch near the Nathaniel P. Reed Visitor Center in Big Cypress National Preserve. The trip covers a short stretch of Chokoloskee Bay. The majority of the creek lies within Big Cypress, not the Everglades, though the distinction between the two parks is irrelevant to visitors.
I did not paddle Halfway Creek in its entirety, but I did paddled the Halfway Creek Loop Trail when I was in Big Cypress National Preserve. The loop trail covers the northern portion of Halfway Creek. See the Halfway Creek Loop Trail review for more information. Though not the full Halfway Creek trip, it should give you a good idea about what to expect.
I was on the southern portion of Halfway Creek as part of a boat tour. The tour followed the creek up to the point where it forks off to Turner River. This section is wide enough for a motor boat, but narrows at the fork.
