  • Length: .7 mile
  • Type: Hikers and Bikers only from Confederate Battery 9 (Intersection C) to the unmarked intersection with the Water Line Trail; and Hikers, Bikers, and Horseback Riders south of the Water Line Trail
  • Difficulty: Easy

The Attack Road Trail in the Eastern Front Unit of Petersburg National Battlefield runs between the Confederate Battery 9 stop on the Eastern Front Driving Tour (Stop 3) and Mahon Road just before the entrance into Fort Gregg-Adams (formerly Fort Lee—Intersection A on the map). About halfway is the intersection with the Harrison Creek Trail (Intersection B).

The Attack Road Trail is a former gravel road. It is flat, fairly straight, and easy to hike or bike.

As you head south from Confederate Battery 9, in a little less than .2 mile is an unmarked intersection with the Water Line Trail. If you take a left, you’ll head over to the Prince George Courthouse Trail at Intersection D. A right leads to the Harrison Creek Trail at Intersection Q.

The Harrison Creek Trail at Intersection B is a quarter mile from the Water Line Trail intersection. Since there is no parking on Mahone Road for hikers and bikers, there is no reason to continue south past the Harrison Creek Trail other than out of curiosity.
