See the Greenbrier Region web page for an interactive location map.
Located on Greenbrier Road off of US 321 / 73 in the north-central region of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Greenbrier Picnic Area is small but inviting. There are eleven picnic tables, each situated on its own level pad. There is one grill per table (charcoal only, no wood). Parking is done in a common parking lot, and you must carry your supplies to the tables. Nine of the tables, including one for disabled visitors that is located at the end of a paved path, range from being right next to the parking spaces to no farther than 100 feet away. There are also two tables back in the woods, but these require a much farther walk.
What I call a “fancy outhouse” is also on the premises. This is a chemical toilet located inside a permanent building, versus the plastic, portable toilets common at construction sites. There is no running water.
For those who would like to host a family reunion, corporate outing, or other large group event, the Greenbrier Picnic Pavilion located a little farther down Greenbrier Road can be reserved for a small fee.
The Greenbrier Picnic Area is open year-round from dawn until dusk.
