Trails: Mountains to Sea Trail
Picnic Tables: None
The Graybeard Mountain View stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway provides a head-on view of its namesake mountain. The vista may be spectacular in the fall, which I guess you could say about many overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but otherwise the mountain’s closeness leaves the scene without any great sense of depth.
The Mountains to Sea Trail comes through here, with trailheads on either side of the parking lot. The Mountains to Sea Trail is a 1,150-mile trail that stretches from Great Smoky Mountains National Park to the North Carolina Outer Banks. This is not part of the National Park system, so I did not hike or review it, but you can get information on the Friends of the Mountains to Sea Trail website.
