The Cold Mountain that gives this stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway its name is indeed the mountain from the book, Cold Mountain, and you can still get a view of it, which is the point of the overlook. Thus, there really shouldn’t be any complaints about the rest of the vista being blocked by trees and brush, but if somebody doesn’t come in here and cut this stuff down it won’t be long before even Cold Mountain itself cannot be seen. Other than getting a look at the famous mountain, there’s not much to recommend here.
