The Peaks of Otter Recreation Area is home to a number of attractions along the Blue Ridge Parkway, one being a lodge and restaurant, the Peaks of Otter Lodge. Located just north of the Peaks of Otter Visitor Center, the lodge has 63 guest rooms, a lounge for drinks, a restaurant, a gift store, and meeting facilities. All rooms overlook Abbott Lake and have modern amenities including TV and WiFi. This is the northernmost facility directly on the Parkway to offer such services.
The lodge is typically open full time from May through November. You can get the current operating schedule and make room reservations online at the Peaks of Otter Lodge website or by calling (866) 387-9905. The lodge is not owned by the National Park Service, but it is operated by an authorized concessionaire.
The Peaks of Otter Restaurant operates on the same schedule as the lodge. Everyone is welcome to dine, not just hotel guests. No reservations are accepted. You can see a menu and get the operating hours on the Peaks of Otter Restaurant web page.
There are two trails in the area that are best started at the lodge parking area, though they can also be reached from the Visitor Center.
For complete information on trails in the area, see the Peaks of Otter Hiking Trails web page.
