Trails: Smart View Loop Trail
Picnic Tables: None
The view at the Smart View Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway is nothing more than the tips of mountains seen through a V-shape window. What you see in the above photo is it, and that’s certainly not worth stopping for. However, if you are looking for a decent 3-mile hike, you can park here to access the Smart View Loop Trail (though you are better off parking at the Smart View Recreation Area parking lot a quarter mile to the south). This moderate loop trail circles the Recreation Area, which includes a large picnic facility and a historic cabin.
