Length: 1.8 miles, one-way
Difficulty: Moderate
The Nauset Trail is a paved, multi-use path that is open to pedestrians, bikers, and skaters. It runs 1.8 miles from the Salt Pond Visitor Center to Coast Guard Beach. Most of the people using the trail are heading to the beach since there is no vehicle parking. It is not an easy ride, as there are some hills, including a very steep one just before the beach. I’d rate it as moderate in difficulty.
The trail passes the Doane Rock Picnic Area and intersects with the short Doane Trail. This leads to the homestead site of John Doane, one of the first seven families to settle Cape Cod in 1644. If interested in the hike, chain your bike to a tree at the trailhead, for bikes are not allowed on the trail and there is no bike rack available.
