American Immigrant Wall of Honor at Ellis Island

The American Immigrant Wall of Honor encircles a field on the backside of the Main Immigration Building at Ellis Island. It is of no particular interest to tourists, but most people will wonder what is its purpose. It is not a listing of all immigrants who came through Ellis Island, but a listing of immigrants who came through Ellis Island and who either donated themselves or had family or friends make a donation in their name to the Ellis Island restoration fund. For more information, see the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation’s About the American Immigrant Wall of Honor web page.
