Tour Stop 17: Site of the former Master Mechanic’s Quarters

Construction Date: 1880

Stop #17 on the Fort Hancock Walking Tour is an empty lot where the former house of the civilian master mechanic for the Sandy Hook Proving Ground once stood. There is no information on when or how the building was torn down, but it was built in 1880. This is before Fort Hancock even existed.
