Tour Stop 19: Locomotive Engineer’s House

Building Number 108
Construction Date: 1900

An extensive railroad system ran through Fort Hancock when the base was in operation. This is how supplies and heavy equipment were moved from the dock to various locations around the fort. So that he was always nearby, the senior railroad engineer was given his own house on the base. Today it is a residence for National Park Service staff.
