A half dozen picnic tables—no grills—are spread out over the grounds near the Iron Works House and the Iron Works Museum at Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site. Most are in a large field behind the two buildings, some in the shade and some in the open sunshine. The tables probably get moved around, so no telling where they might be at any given time.
It is possible to hold an event at the park by securing a Special Use Permit, but this really isn’t a picnic area that anyone would want to reserve for a birthday party or other picnicking event. It is mainly just for guests to enjoy a bite to eat while visiting the park. There are even a few Adirondack chairs on the grounds for those who want to sit and relax while waiting for a Ranger-guided tour to begin.
