New Bedford Walking Tour

Location: 98 Front Street

The building in the historic district of New Bedford now known as the McCullough Building dates to 1820, but John McCullough didn’t actually purchase it until 1864. After being severely damaged by a fire in 1940 and remaining empty for thirty years, the Waterfront Historic Area League purchased the building, then sold it to developers. It was restored to its original state in 1980. It is currently used for retail space.
