New Bedford Walking Tour


Location: 26 Centre Street

Gilbert Russell, a local whaling merchant, built this commercial space in 1822 and leased it to various businesses. It started out as a grocery store, but also served as a metal shop and a warehouse. It was restored in 1994 and is currently used as a retail shop.
