In addition to being able to hike on the Maryland beaches of Assateague Island National Seashore, there are three short nature trails, each covering a different natural aspect of the park: the Life of the Forest Trail, the Life of the Marsh Trail, and the Life of the Dunes Trail. They are all easy to find because there is only one main road through the park, so just be on the lookout for a road sign that points the way to the trail you want to hike. All trails have their own parking lots.
Keep in mind that mosquitoes are a problem throughout the park during the summer and warmer parts of spring and fall. I would recommend carrying insect repellent, but don’t put it on unless you need to. I visited on a hot day in early September and ran into very few of the pests.
