Hiking trail at Assateague Island National Seashore

In addition to being able to hike up and down the 40 or so miles of beaches at Assateague Island National Seashore, there are a few designated hiking trails. In the Maryland section of the park, three short trails take hikers through the different types of terrain: forest, dunes, and marsh. In Virginia, all of the trails are within Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, and while not technically part of Assateague Island National Seashore, nobody visiting the area would make a distinction between the two areas. Therefore, National Park Planner has reviewed these trails as well. See the following web pages for trail reviews and photographs.
