The Houchin Ferry Picnic Area is located in Brownsville, Kentucky, a 25-minute drive from the Mammoth Cave Visitor Center. It is on the south side of the Green River, so no ferry is required to reach it. If using Google Maps for directions, search HOUCHIN FERRY CAMPGROUND. The picnic area is located across the street from the campground entrance. There is parking for six vehicles.

There are ten picnic tables under a covered pavilion and one grill next to it. Everything is taken on a first come, first served basis. If you plan on hosting a group event, one picnic pavilion and an enclosed banquet room are available for rental at the Mammoth Cave Picnic Area near the Visitor Center. There is nothing stopping you from having a group picnic at Houchin Ferry, but somebody from your group would have to arrive first thing in the morning to grab the tables. Hopefully nobody else has the same idea.

There are also two tables on cement pads at the Houchin Ferry Picnic Area that are not part of the pavilion. One has a grill, and the other had a grill, but it was busted off when I visited.
