Building 102 at Fort Hancock was originally used as a barracks for enlisted men working at the Sandy Hook Proving Ground. When the Proving Ground moved to Aberdeen, Maryland, in 1919, the building was converted into a school for children living on the base. It was later used as the headquarters for the 7th Coastal Artillery Regiment.
