Tour Stop 20: Proving Ground Foreman’s House

Building 104
Construction Date: 1894

The Sandy Hook Proving Ground was a weapons testing station located at the northern end of the Sandy Hook peninsula that operated from 1874 until 1919, at which time the operation was moved to Aberdeen, Maryland. From 1894 until the Proving Ground closed, this house is where the foreman of the Proving Ground lived. After 1919 it was used for noncommissioned officer housing. Both the Proving Ground and the house pre-date Fort Hancock.

Building 104 has been renovated and is currently leased for office space. It is not open to the public.
