The Little River Falls Picnic Area is located at the top end of the parking lot on Alabama Highway 35. This is one of the larger picnic areas within Little River Canyon National Preserve. There are nine tables and six grills in a wooded area. The tables are made of recycled plastic, so no splinters in your butt, and the grills are in good condition. I still recommend bringing your own grill grate or aluminum foil to cook on, as some of the grates are rusty.

While you could hold a small group event here, all tables are taken on a first come, first served basis, so you must arrive early in the morning to stake your claim. For group events, the Canyon Mouth Park picnic area is a better option. This is a much larger facility with covered pavilions that can be reserved in advance, a playground, multiple places to swim in the Little River, and modern restrooms. There is a restroom at the Little River Falls Picnic Area, but it is a fancy outhouse, which is what Jed Clampett would call a portable toilet in a permanent building.
There are also a couple of picnic tables along the sidewalk that leads from the parking lot to the AL 35 bridge over the Little River. Walk out to the bridge for a nice view of the river from above the waterfall. There is a pedestrian walkway on the bridge.
