The Meade Station Trail in the Eastern Front Unit of Petersburg National Battlefield is a very short and easy trail that runs between intersections G and E on the east side of the park. It is a former dirt road that is straight and flat as a pancake.
During the Siege of Petersburg, the Union army built a railroad from its supply base at City Point to the front lines of the fighting. One of the battlefield train stations was named after General George Meade, and it was located in this area, thus the trail name.
