FORT HANCOCK WALKING TOUR
Tour Stop 8: Post Exchange
Building Number 70
Construction Date: 1909
The Post Exchange (PX), a military base’s shopping center, was originally a gymnasium with a bowling alley in the basement. It became the PX in 1941 when a new gym was built onto the existing YMCA building across the street. However, the bowling alley remained in operation.
