Tour Stop 7: NCO Houses

Building Numbers 29, 30, 52, 64
Construction Dates: 1898 to 1907

Noncommissioned officers who had families at Fort Hancock lived in the NCO houses on Kearney Road. Each building is divided into multiple apartments. Today these are used as housing for National Park Service staff.

There are more NCO houses behind these. Building 66 is located directly behind Building 29 on McNair Road, and Buildings 71, 72, 73, and 75 are on Mercer Road. Collectively, this area was called Sergeants’ Row.

Unmarried NCOs at Fort Hancock lived in the Enlisted Men’s barracks.
