Tour Stop 31: Bachelor Officers’ Quarters

Building Number 27
Construction Date: 1898

Unmarried officers at Fort Hancock lived in Building 27. The top floor was for lieutenants, while the second floor—which had a private bath and sitting room for each resident—was for captains and majors. Lieutenants had smaller rooms and had to share a bathroom. The first floor was home to the original Fort Hancock Officers’ Club.
