The granite Louisiana State Memorial is an 81-foot Doric column that marks the site of the Great Redoubt, the largest Confederate fort at Vicksburg and the highest point in Vicksburg National Military Park. At the top of the monument is a sculpted granite Eternal Flame. The monument can first be seen at the Battery De Goyler stop on the Battlefield Tour. The memorial was dedicated in October 1920.
