GENERAL INFORMATION

Camp Greentop is one of two overnight-stay facilities at Catoctin Mountain Park that is available for rent by groups only, the other being Camp Round Meadow. The group renting the complex has exclusive use of the facilities. Individuals, families, and groups of friends that would like to rent a cabin can do so at Camp Misty Mount.

Note: I did not personally visit Camp Greentop due to it being closed.

CAMPING SEASON

Camp Greentop is available for rent from mid-April through mid-May, then again from mid-August until the end of October. It is closed in the summer and winter.

ACCOMODATIONS

Camp Greentop can accommodate up to 140 people. The camp is comprised of 12 cabins that can sleep 10 people each, one that can sleep 12, and three that can sleep three people. There are also four buildings that can be rented for an additional fee: 3-person cabin, 4-person cabin, staff quarters that sleeps 4, and an infirmary that sleeps 5.

The camp has a commercial kitchen / dining hall, recreation / meeting hall that can hold 128 people, and swimming pool (open Memorial Day through Labor Day).

Groups using the kitchen are requested to have a certified food handler on duty.

RVs and trailers are not allowed at Camp Greentop.

AMENITIES

While single beds with mattresses are provided, guests must bring their own bedding (or sleeping bags) and towels. The group must also bring its own cleaning supplies and toilet paper. The entire camp must be cleaned before check out.

Cabins have electricity but no heating or air conditioning. They do have ceiling fans. The only buildings that are heated are the kitchen / dining hall and recreation building. No buildings have air conditioning. Fireplaces inside the buildings are not to be used except for those in the dining hall and recreation building.

Modern restrooms and showers are available.

There is no Internet service or Wi-Fi. Cellular towers in Catoctin Mountain Park are serviced by Verizon and AT&T. You may not get cell service with other carriers.

FEES AND RESERVATIONS

Reservations are made directly through Catoctin Mountain Park and are required to stay at Camp Greentop—walk-ups are not allowed. Call Catoctin Mountain Park at (301) 663-9388 for details on how to make a reservation.

At the time of this writing, rental rates are $600 / night on Sundays through Thursdays and $1000 / night on Fridays and Saturdays. Get the current rates by calling the park.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Check-in time is 3 PM. Check-out time is 12 PM.
  • A permit is required to serve alcohol.
  • No smoking or pets (other than service animals) are allowed in the cabins.
  • Guests must clean the facility before leaving.
