CHICKAMAUGA BATTLEFIELD TOUR

STOP 4: BROTHERTON CABIN

Allow 10-20 minutes for a visit

Stop 4 on the tour of Chickamauga battlefield is the Brotherton Cabin site. It is here that Confederate soldiers broke through the Union line thanks to a gap created when Union commander General Rosecrans mistakenly ordered troops to vacate the area in order to fill a fictional gap he thought existed farther north. This order created a real gap, and when the Confederates broke through, the Union’s chances of victory were dashed. A reproduction of the Brotherton Cabin is on display, along with wayside exhibits, cannon, and monuments. There is also a field of monuments that you can explore.

Allow 10-20 minutes for a visit, depending on whether or not you walk through the field of monuments.
