Parking Lot #6 Canoe Launch on River Road in Canaveral National Seashore

See the Boat Launches web page for an interactive location map.

Just south of the Apollo Beach Visitor Center at Canaveral National Seashore is a one-way road called River Road (aka Eldora Loop Road) that branches off from the main park road and leads to the former resort community of Eldora. Along the road are four parking areas that are numbered starting at #6, a continuation of the beach parking lot numbering system.

At Parking Lot #6 is what the National Park Service considers a canoe launch. However, calling it a canoe launch is like calling any spot you can get to along the shore of Mosquito Lagoon a canoe launch. It is located at the end of a slightly overgrown path that starts at the southern end of the parking lot (look for a trash can). Head down the path and you’ll find a picnic table and a clearing—the canoe launch. You won’t find it mentioned on any park maps, but it is here.

Also located at Parking Lot #6 is a trail that follows the shoreline down to Parking Lot #7 where you will find another canoe launch, one that is a little more accessible.
