STOP 8:  GRACE’S HIGH FALLS

Grace’s High Falls is Alabama’s tallest waterfall at 133 feet high. It is a seasonal waterfall that typically only flows during the winter and spring, the rainy seasons in Alabama.

While Grace’s High Falls is seen from the Canyon Rim Drive in Little River Canyon National Preserve, and is in fact within the park, when you look across the canyon towards the waterfall from the overlook, you aren’t looking at Little River Canyon. The waterfall flows from a river atop Bear Canyon and spills to the bottom into Bear Creek, a major tributary that flows into the Little River. None of this is obvious from the viewpoint.
