Complete park information about visiting Kings Mountain National Military Park is now available on National Park Planner.
Located in Blacksburg, South Carolina, Kings Mountain National Military Park preserves the site of an American Revolution battle that took place on October 7, 1780. The battle was an American victory, and it is considered a turning point in the war. Starting in 1778, the British focused their efforts on stopping the rebellion in the southern colonies and had a string of successes. With a losing record, the Patriots were finding it hard to recruit new supporters and soldiers. The victory at Kings Mountain let those unsure of which side to support know that the Patriots could actually win, and recruiting became a little easier.
